What is Bates Numbering?
Bates numbering is a method of indexing legal documents for easy identification and retrieval. Each page is assigned a unique identifier that typically includes a prefix, a sequential number, and sometimes a suffix.
How to Use This Tool:
- Upload one or more PDF documents using the drag & drop area or the "Select PDF Files" button.
- Configure your Bates numbering format:
- Prefix: Add text that appears before the number (e.g., "CASE-2023-").
- Starting Number: Set the first number in the sequence.
- Number of Digits: Choose how many digits to use (e.g., 6 digits would show as "000001").
- Suffix: Add text that appears after the number (e.g., "-CONF" for confidential).
- Customize the appearance:
- Position: Choose where the Bates number appears on each page.
- Font Size: Select the size of the Bates number text.
- Font Color: Choose the color of the Bates number.
- Bold: Make the Bates number bold for better visibility.
- Click "Apply Bates Numbering" to process your documents.
- Download your Bates-numbered PDFs individually or as a ZIP file.
